That's right folks, white supremacists everywhere bowed their head as one of baseball's great assholes rode off into the sunset. Kent was accused multiple times throughout his career of making racially insensitive comments and not being able to get along with his black teammates. The most prominent accusations were made by Barry Bonds and Milton Bradley. You know, since those two guys really need to be pointing fingers.
Ahh yes, they're such model athletes!
So now the debate begins. Is Jeff Kent a hall of famer?

What debate? he's the best hitting second baseman of all time. First or second ballot hall of famer. Especially since he avoided any steroid scandal.
ReplyDeleteI think most of the people with HOF votes are white, too.
.290 Avg, 377 homers, 1518 driven in. Has to be in the discussion for best second baseman of all time.
ReplyDeleteHe's the best second baseman of his era, which is what matters when it comes to hall of fame voting. He's a no brainer.
ReplyDeleteJeff Kent is headed to Cooperstown on his first ballot. I don't know if i like the "best second baseman of his era" comment. What is his era? When its said and done, Chase Utley will be a better player than Jeff Kent.
ReplyDeleteAll this said, I hope Jeff Kent gets hit by a bus on his way to the induction. He is, without a doubt, one of my five least favorite Major League Baseball players of all time.
Generally, his era would be during his prime and probably before chase utley. The only other second basemen i can think of who would be considered would be Craig Biggio or Robbie Alomar.
ReplyDeleteSandberg's a bit too far back.
